Mini Roadster Oil Pressure Warning Light

My 2012 Mini Roadster with 131951 km on it is showing a warning light in the speedometer. The oil pressure warning lamp lights up too. I'm guessing it might be the engine oil temperature sensor. Could be a defective cable or plug connection maybe?

Summary of the thread

A 2012 Mini Roadster displayed an oil pressure warning light, suspected to be caused by a faulty engine oil temperature sensor or defective cable connection. After consulting a workshop, it was confirmed that the issue was indeed a defective cable and sensor. The problem was resolved by replacing the sensor and cable, restoring the vehicle to proper function.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

That sounds awfully familiar. I had a similar problem with my Mini Roadster. The oil pressure light kept coming on, and it turned out to be a faulty car sensor. Was it throwing any error codes?

Yeah, there's an error stored in the memory. Did you have the same error codes when your automotive sensor went bad?

Yes, it sounds like the same issue. I would strongly recommend a visit to the workshop. They will be able to diagnose it properly. If it's just a defective cable or plug connection of the component, it is an easy fix.

Thanks for the help. I took it to a shop and they confirmed it was the engine oil temperature sensor. The cable was indeed defective. They replaced the sensor and cable for 95€. All good now.
