Mini Roadster Power Steering Problem

My 2015 Mini Roadster diesel is exhibiting power steering issues. Steering wheel vibrates, handling is spongy, there's an error in the memory, and steering effort is increased, as the power steering seems to have failed. Suspect a cable or plug connection problem. Any thoughts?

Sounds familiar! I had something similar with my Mini Roadster. Steering felt really weird, like driving through treacle. Have you checked the hydraulic fluid level? Also, any chance you've whacked a curb recently? Could be a slightly bent steering rack or a pressure hose issue. It's worth having a look at the steering pump too. I know someone who had a bad wheel alignment that caused similar symptoms, but it's less likely if it happened suddenly. Just throwing ideas out there!

Hydraulic fluid is okay. No curb incidents. You mentioned a similar issue - what was the eventual cause and fix?

Ah, right. For me, the symptoms were almost identical. Turned out to be a dodgy connection to the steering pump. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a workshop, especially as there is an error code stored. Could save you a lot of hassle in the long run!

Confirmed cause was a defective plug connection. Sorted for 95€. Thanks for the pointer.
