Mini Roadster seat heating issue
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Mini Roadster is experiencing a seat heating issue, with neither seat warming up and an error code indicating a defective seat heating mat. This problem is noted as common, and the repair estimate is around 390€. While the issue could potentially involve a thermal sensor, the error code and inspection suggest the heating mat itself is likely the cause. The solution involves replacing the seat heating mat, which aligns with the shop's diagnosis and cost estimate.

Okay, if the light's on but nobody's home (no heat), and you've checked the wiring, it really does sound like the heating mat itself. The temperature control usually just regulates how hot it gets, not whether it works at all. Since you have an error code pointing to the mat, and you've visually inspected the connections, I'd say the shop's diagnosis is probably accurate. 390€ sounds about right for parts and labor these days. Better to get it fixed before winter really hits!

The temperature control seems fine, the light comes on and all. And yeah, I did check the wiring. Everything looks solid, no obvious breaks or anything. You mentioned the temperature control though, how would that affect the seat heating?

Thanks for the input. It does seem like the seat heating mat was the culprit, just like the error code suggested. Bit the bullet and had it replaced. Total cost was indeed around 390€. Annoying, but at least my bum will be warm again.

Seat heater problems are a pain, it's like having a lukewarm cup of coffee on a cold morning – disappointing! Has the temperature control been acting up at all, or is it just completely dead? Also, did you check the wiring under the seat? Sometimes those connections can get loose or damaged.
