Mini Roadster Smoke and Warning Light Issue

Thanks for your quick response. My fuel consumption seems normal. The smoke is definitely black. The warning light appeared first, and then the smoke started a few days later. Any thoughts?

Okay, black smoke after the warning light pretty much confirms the exhaust pressure sensor is toast. The sensor provides data to the ECU, which then controls fuel injection and DPF regeneration. If it's faulty, the ECU gets bad data, leading to over-fuelling (black smoke) and preventing DPF regeneration. It's a common issue. Replacing the sensor should resolve the issue. I would suggest taking it to a shop. While theoretically you could do it yourself, it's often in a difficult location and might require specific tools. The estimate you got sounds reasonable.

Thanks a lot for your help. As you suspected, the exhaust pressure sensor was the culprit. An auto repair shop replaced it, and the total cost was around 245€. Now the Roadster is running smoothly again, and the warning light is gone!

Smoke when accelerating and DPF issues on a Roadster with almost 100000 km? Sounds like a faulty exhaust pressure sensor could definitely be the culprit, but let's dig a bit deeper. Have you noticed any changes in fuel consumption? Also, can you describe the smoke? Is it black, white, or blueish? When did the warning light appear, before or after the smoke? Knowing this might help confirm the diagnosis before you head to a shop.
