Mini Roadster Tailgate Issue

I am experiencing an issue with my 2012 Mini Roadster's tailgate. The tailgate does not fully open, and an error related to the hall sensor is stored in the error memory. Given the age of the vehicle, and information I found, a probable cause is a defective cable or plug connection. Could this be the issue?

I had a similar issue with my Skoda a while back, the power tailgate wouldn't open properly. Have you checked the wiring harness where it enters the tailgate? That's a common spot for breaks because of the constant bending. Does the error message specify which vehicle sensor is at fault?

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you recall if the error memory pointed to a specific hall sensor or something more generic? I examined the wiring visually and noticed nothing obvious, but I'll take a closer look at the harness near the tailgate hinge, as you suggested.

Yes, in my case, the error message was quite specific, referencing the tailgate motor hall sensor. After wiggling the wires the error disappeared and the tailgate was working again. I suggest that you visit the workshop because it appears that your case is not resolvable by yourself.

Thank you for the advice. I followed it up with the workshop. As suspected, the hall sensor signal wire was faulty. They've replaced the harness section, including the connector to the tailgate motor. Sensor calibration was performed. Total cost was 95€. Everything is working correctly now.
