Mini Roadster temperature readings seem off
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Mini Roadster owner is experiencing unusual temperature readings, a check engine light, and slow engine warm-up. The suspected causes include a radiator blockage, restricted airflow to the cooling grille, or a defective fuse. A suggestion to check the fuse for the cooling grille is made, as it could restrict airflow and affect engine temperature. The issue is confirmed to be a defective fuse, which is resolved at a workshop.

Interesting. I hadn't thought of that. Where exactly is the fuse located? Is it easy to check myself, or should I just take the Roadster to a mechanic?

Yes, it was the same issue. The engine overheating caused the check engine light to come on, and the temperature readings were all over the place. If you're not comfortable checking the fuse yourself, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. It's probably a quick and inexpensive fix.

Just wanted to give you an update. Took my Roadster to the shop and you were spot on. It was the fuse for the cooling grille. Cost me 52€ to get it sorted. Thanks again for your help!

I had something similar happen with my Mini Roadster. Engine cooling seemed off. Have you checked the fuse for the cooling grille? A defective fuse could restrict airflow and cause the engine to take longer to warm up.
