Mini Roadster uneven engine running and jerking
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Mini Roadster with 165,436 km is experiencing uneven engine running and jerking, with the check engine light on. Error codes suggest a potential exhaust system leak. While the air filter is clean, other possible causes like fuel injectors or oxygen sensor issues are considered. Ultimately, the problem is confirmed to be an exhaust leak near the manifold, which is repaired, resolving the issue.

The oxygen sensor readings seem normal, or at least within the expected range according to my OBD reader. The fuel pump seems to be delivering adequate pressure too. The timing belt was replaced about 50000 km ago. About the oxygen sensor on your Peugeot, were the readings off, or was it something else causing the issue?

Well, in my case, the oxygen sensor readings appeared normal at first glance, but the mechanic found that it was intermittently sending incorrect signals, confusing the ECU. It wasn't a complete failure, more of a 'lying' sensor. It might be worth getting it properly diagnosed with professional equipment. A leak in the exhaust system is also a common cause of the errors you are getting. I would recommend you go to the workshop.

Alright, just an update: Turns out it was indeed a leak in the exhaust system, as suspected. They located it near the manifold. Repair cost me 265€. Everything runs smoothly now. Thanks for the input!

Uneven running and jerking, huh? Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot, different car I know, but the symptoms were almost identical. Check engine light, the works. Have you checked the oxygen sensor readings? A faulty sensor can cause havoc with the fuel mixture, leading to all sorts of problems. The fuel pump could also be involved, although I'd expect other symptoms if that was failing. It is also worth checking the timing belt. When was the last time you changed it?
