Mirage AC Blower Failing: Fix Costs & Shop Tips Needed
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Mitsubishi Mirage with 150,000 km is experiencing issues with the AC/heating system, specifically weak airflow and inadequate temperature control. The problem may be due to a failing climate control unit and a faulty blower motor resistor. A suggested solution is to have the vehicle inspected and repaired by a certified Mitsubishi dealer, as they are familiar with these systems and can ensure a proper fix. This approach, although potentially costly, is likely to resolve the issue effectively, as evidenced by a similar case where the repair restored full functionality to the AC system.

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? And has everything been working smoothly since then? Would really appreciate knowing what to expect cost-wise before I head to the dealer.

Hey there! Yes, I can tell you exactly what I paid, it was 880 Euro for the full repair at the Mitsubishi dealer. They had to replace the climate control unit which was the main culprit. I'm actually really glad you asked about how it's been working since then because it's been absolutely perfect! Not a single AC error code since they fixed it. Honestly, while it wasn't cheap, it was worth every cent. The AC now blows ice cold when I want it to, and the heating works great too. All the fan speeds are working properly, and I don't get any of those annoying weak airflow issues anymore. It's like having a brand new system. If you're seeing the same symptoms I had, I'd say this is probably what you're looking at cost-wise. But hey, at least you'll know it's done right, these dealer mechanics really know their stuff when it comes to Mitsubishi's climate systems. Let me know if you need any other info!

Thanks so much for all the details! I actually just got back from the Mitsubishi dealer yesterday. You were spot on, it was pretty much the same issue. My repair came to about 850 Euro, pretty close to what you paid. They replaced both the control unit and the blower motor resistor. I was nervous about spending that much, but what a difference! The AC is blasting cold air like it's brand new, and all the fan speeds are working perfectly now. No more weak airflow or temperature issues. The mechanic was super professional and explained everything clearly, totally different from my last experience. Really appreciate everyone's help here. If anyone else runs into similar AC issues with their Mirage, definitely go to a certified Mitsubishi dealer. It might cost a bit more, but at least you know it's done right the first time. Thanks again for helping me avoid another bad repair experience!

Hey! I had a similar issue with my 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer last summer. The symptoms were pretty much identical, weak airflow and poor temperature control. Turned out my climate control unit was failing, and the blower motor resistor was shot too. Took it to a certified Mitsubishi dealer because these systems can be tricky. They diagnosed both issues and had to replace the control unit and resistor. It was a serious job that took about a day to complete, but it fixed the problem completely. The blower now works at all speeds, and both AC and heat work perfectly. If you're having the same symptoms, I'd recommend getting it checked at a Mitsubishi specialist, they'll know exactly what to look for with these models. The climate control system in these cars is pretty reliable usually, but when it goes wrong, you need someone who knows what they're doing. Hope this helps with your decision!
