Mirai Gearbox Slipping

My 2014 Toyota Mirai (electric) is acting up. Paddle shifters are dead, gearbox is slipping like crazy, and making horrible grinding noises. Plus, the response is so slow, it's basically stuck in emergency mode. Any ideas? Error memory is full, too!

Sounds nasty. Does it only happen with the paddle shifters, or also in full auto? Did you check the automotive ECU for error codes? Could be the car computer is throwing a fit. Maybe a transmission diagnosis will help?

It's happening in auto too, sadly. Where exactly do I check the ECU? I'm not super techy with the car computer stuff...

Okay, if it's also in auto, it does sound more like the affected control unit is defective. The ECU is usually under the dash or hood, but honestly, at this point, get it to a workshop. Slipping and grinding plus error codes? Probably needs professional transmission diagnosis.

Cheers, you were spot on! Took it to the shop, and it was indeed the transmission control unit. Cost me about 1000€ to get it sorted. Thanks for the help!
