Mirai tailgate sensor issue

I've got a 2017 Toyota Mirai with an electric engine and about 130,000 km on the clock. I'm getting an error stored related to the tailgate hall sensor. The tailgate also doesn't open completely. It seems like the cable or plug connection to the sensor might be defective. Anyone seen this before?

I had a similar issue with my 2014 Opel Insignia a while back. The tailgate would only open partially, and the error codes pointed towards a faulty sensor. I initially suspected the sensor itself, but it turned out to be a wiring issue in the hinge area. Have you checked the wiring harness for any damage or corrosion?

Thanks for the insight! I haven't delved into the wiring harness just yet. Do you recall if the wiring damage on your Opel was easily visible, or was it hidden within the harness?

On my Insignia, it was actually hidden pretty well. The insulation had cracked in a spot where the harness flexed every time the tailgate opened or closed. Without really bending the wires to look closely, it wasn't obvious. I'd suggest checking that area thoroughly or just bringing it to a workshop.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop. Turns out it was indeed the cable. Repair cost me 95€. Appreciate the help!
