Mistra Engine Stalling

My 2018 Hyundai Mistra, gasoline engine, is giving me fits. It's got 141534 km on the clock. The check engine light is on, and the error memory says something about idle air. Worse, the engine stalls at idle. I suspect a bad IAC valve and intake heavily contaminated. Has anyone else dealt with this particular nightmare?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Hyundai Mistra with 141,534 km is experiencing engine stalling at idle, accompanied by a check engine light indicating an idle air issue. The suspected causes include a faulty idle air control (IAC) valve and a heavily contaminated intake. The problem was confirmed by a workshop, which identified the IAC valve as faulty and the intake as contaminated, leading to successful repairs.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Ugh, sounds familiar. I have a Hyundai Mistra too, and went through similar engine stalling issues. Not sure about the IAC valve specifically, but did you notice anything else? Like rough idling before it stalls, or any hesitation when accelerating? Could be a number of things affecting the engine idle. Has the error code specified the IAC valve, or only the engine idle in general?

The error code seems to point to a problem with the idle control system, but not the IAC valve directly. Before stalling, the engine fluctuates a bit. You had the exact same symptoms?

Okay, fluctuating idle and stalling sounds very close to what I experienced. Considering the vague error code, it could be several components in the idle control system. I tried cleaning the throttle body, but it did not solve the issue, and I'm no professional. If you're not comfortable digging in deep, I'd suggest taking it to a trusted workshop.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions! I took it to the workshop. Turns out I was right. The idle air control valve was faulty, and the intake was heavily contaminated, just like I suspected. The repair cost me 425€. At least it's running smoothly now.
