Mistra start stop failure
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Hyundai Mistra's start-stop system is failing to restart the engine automatically after shutting off at lights, accompanied by a warning light and stored fault. The issue is suspected to be due to a heavily discharged or defective battery, as the system relies heavily on battery health. It is recommended to have the battery tested and possibly replaced by a mechanic, as proper diagnosis and repair require specific tools.

Thanks! It seems to happen pretty consistently, regardless of how long I've been driving. Even after a decent highway run, it still fails to restart sometimes without me manually starting it. Any ideas?

Okay, if it's happening consistently even after longer drives that should be charging the battery, then yeah, I think you might be spot-on about the battery. A heavily discharged or defective battery is the most common cause of that problem. It's probably best to take it to a mechanic; the repair cost might be around 290€. Unfortunately, there really isn't much you can do yourself to properly diagnose or repair this. It requires specific diagnostic tools.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I think I'll take your suggestion and book it into a workshop to get the battery tested and replaced. Hopefully that solves the issue.

I had a similar problem with my Mistra. The start-stop system, also known as automatic restart or idle stop, relies heavily on battery health. When that system isn't functioning properly, you will get a warning light alongside an error code. Does it happen frequently, or only when you've been driving in ways that are less than ideal for charging the battery? Like short trips?
