Mistra Turbo Boost Sensor Issue

I have a 2016 Hyundai Mistra with a gasoline engine and about 69000 km on it. Lately, the check engine light has been coming on. I've noticed some jerking when accelerating, along with a whistling and loud hissing sound when I put my foot down. Sometimes it even stalls at idle, and I'm definitely burning more fuel than usual while also feeling like the engine is less powerful. I've checked the air intake, but everything seems normal. Could this be the turbo boost sensor?

Summary of the thread

A 2016 Hyundai Mistra owner experienced issues with the check engine light, jerking during acceleration, unusual sounds, stalling, increased fuel consumption, and reduced engine power. These symptoms suggested a potential problem with the turbo boost sensor. Another Mistra owner recommended checking the cable and plug connections to the boost sensor, which was the cause of similar issues they faced. Upon inspection at a workshop, a faulty cable connection to the boost sensor was confirmed and replaced, resolving the problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I also own a Mistra, though not from 2016. Your symptoms sound suspiciously similar to what I experienced a while back. Did you check the cable and plug connections going to the boost sensor? That was the culprit for me, causing nearly identical issues with the engine light, whistling, and rough acceleration.

Thanks for the quick reply. I hadn't thought about the cable connections specifically, just the sensor itself. Can you provide any more details regarding how to check them properly? What was faulty, and did you do the repairs yourself?

While it is certainly possible to check the connections yourself, unless you possess appropriate diagnostic tools and experience, I would refrain from doing so. In my case, the workshop confirmed a defective plug connection. Replacing it resolved the problem. Given your description, a visit to the workshop may be the best course of action to avoid further complications.

Thanks for the advice; I appreciate it. I took it to the workshop, and you were right. It turned out to be a faulty cable connection on the boost sensor, just like you said. They replaced it, and the total cost was 95€. The car is running perfectly again.
