Modus ABS Fault DF072

I've got a 2010 Renault Modus, gasoline engine, with nearly 200k km on the clock. The ABS light is on, and the ABS system is failing. My diagnostic scan points to a lateral acceleration sensor fault. I suspect the control unit itself is defective. Anyone else experienced this?

I have a Modus too, and had similar symptoms a while back. ABS lamp, loss of traction control, the whole shebang. The diagnostic also indicated something was amiss with a sensor responsible for measuring the vehicle's lateral movement. Did the error memory give you any specific codes?

Yes, the code is DF072. I've checked the wiring and the sensor connections, but everything seems fine. Did you manage to sort your issue? If so, how?

Ah, yes, DF072 rings a bell. Sadly, in my case, all the diagnostics pointed to a faulty ABS control unit. It appears the sensor signal processing within the unit itself was malfunctioning. Unfortunately, recalibration or component replacement proved futile, and I was left with no alternative but to get the entire control unit replaced. Given your symptoms and the code, I would recommend taking it to a trusted workshop for a professional evaluation; it is probably a control unit failure.

Thanks for the info! I was hoping it wouldn't be the control unit, but it seems likely. Looks like I'll be booking it in with a specialist soon. Turns out it was the ABS unit - a hefty 1000€ bill!
