Modus air con control unit
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Renault Modus diesel is experiencing air conditioning issues, including error codes, warm air, and a warning light. The problem may be linked to the air conditioning control unit, as suggested by a mechanic and confirmed by another owner with similar symptoms. I haven't checked the refrigerant level or the compressor clutch myself because I don't have the equipment, but a local mechanic told me there's a problem with the refrigerant compressor and suggested that the air conditioning control unit might be defective. Was it the same for you? Was it the control unit in the end?

Yep, it was exactly the same! After messing about trying to diagnose it myself, I ended up taking it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the air con control unit. Best to get it checked out properly; could save you time and money in the long run. You don't want to be sweating it out this summer!

I took it to a bigger garage this morning, and just got the call - its indeed the air con control unit as you suspected. They quoted 980€, which is painful, but at least it will be fixed.

Sounds familiar! I've got a Modus too, and I had similar symptoms last summer. The air con packed it in, threw some errors. Have you checked the refrigerant level, or if the compressor clutch is engaging? That could also point to the a/c control unit.
