Modus airbag warning light

I've got a 2004 Renault Modus with a diesel engine, and the airbag warning light is constantly on. The car has 169607 km on it. I'm thinking it might be a dodgy cable or plug connection somewhere in the airbag system. Anyone else had this? Could it be the crash sensor?

Summary of the thread

A 2004 Renault Modus owner reported a persistent airbag warning light, suspecting a faulty cable or plug connection. The issue arose after hitting a pothole, suggesting a possible connection to the crash sensor. A fellow owner recommended a professional check, leading to the discovery of a defective connection near the sensor, which was subsequently repaired.

I have a Modus too. Had a similar issue with the airbag light. Was it after going over a bump?

Yeah, now that you mention it, happened right after a particularly nasty pothole... Could that really be it? Where exactly should I be looking for the issue?

It could be related. The sensor might be faulty as a result. I'd recommend getting it checked at a workshop to be on the safe side. Airbag deployment issues are not something to overlook.

Thanks! Took your advice and the mechanic checked it out. Turns out it was indeed a defective connection, right near the sensor. Cost me 95€ to fix it. Appreciate the help!
