Modus boost pressure actuator fault
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Renault Modus is experiencing a boost pressure actuator fault, indicated by a check engine light, reduced engine power, poor response, whistling, and hissing sounds during acceleration, occasional stalling, and increased fuel consumption. The issue may be related to the electrical bypass valve or a faulty actuator. A similar case with a Renault Clio suggested that the actuator was the problem, confirmed by a workshop diagnosis. Booking a professional check for the actuator is recommended.

Thanks for the quick response. The boost pressure sensor seems fine according to the diagnostics, but I am not so sure anymore. Do you remember any specific symptoms that pointed you towards the actuator?

Yeah, the hissing sound was a big clue for me. It was like a punctured lung, and the engine was struggling to breathe. I took it to a workshop eventually, turned out the actuator was indeed faulty. Cost me around 250€.

Thanks a lot for the info! I'll book it in to get the actuator checked out. Your experience pretty much confirms my suspicions. Cheers!

Hey, sounds familiar. I had something similar with my Renault Clio - like a blocked artery starving the engine. Have you checked the boost pressure sensor readings? Could be a faulty sensor messing with the actuator.
