Modus boost pressure actuator fault

Hi, I have a 2008 Renault Modus with a gasoline engine. I'm experiencing a boost pressure actuator fault. The check engine light is on, and there's reduced engine power. Response is poor, with a whistling and loud hissing when accelerating. It even stalls sometimes, and fuel consumption is up. With 245228 km on the clock, could the electrical bypass valve be the culprit?

Hey, sounds familiar. I had something similar with my Renault Clio - like a blocked artery starving the engine. Have you checked the boost pressure sensor readings? Could be a faulty sensor messing with the actuator.

Thanks for the quick response. The boost pressure sensor seems fine according to the diagnostics, but I am not so sure anymore. Do you remember any specific symptoms that pointed you towards the actuator?

Yeah, the hissing sound was a big clue for me. It was like a punctured lung, and the engine was struggling to breathe. I took it to a workshop eventually, turned out the actuator was indeed faulty. Cost me around 250€.

Thanks a lot for the info! I'll book it in to get the actuator checked out. Your experience pretty much confirms my suspicions. Cheers!
