Modus central locking failure
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Renault Modus diesel is experiencing a central locking failure, with neither the key fob nor the internal button functioning. The issue might be related to a cable or plug, as an error related to the central locking system was detected. Thanks for the quick response! I did check the fuses, and they all seem to be fine. I don't have an aftermarket alarm, it's just the standard factory-fitted one. Where exactly was the issue with yours? Was it definitely a wiring problem, or something else?

Okay, fuses are good, and no aftermarket alarm, that rules out a few things. I eventually caved and took it to a workshop. They said it was a faulty connector in the door wiring loom. Cost me 95€ to get sorted. If you've already checked the basics, and you're getting an error code, it might be worth getting it properly diagnosed before you start pulling things apart. Sometimes it's cheaper than chasing ghosts.

Appreciate the insight! Seems like I'm heading to the workshop then. I'll report back once I know exactly what the problem is. It turns out it was a defective plug connection, just like you said! Thanks for the advice!

Sounds familiar. I had something similar happen with my Modus a while back. Have you checked the fuse box? Sometimes a blown fuse can cause havoc with the central locking. Does your car have an aftermarket car alarm installed? Those things can sometimes interfere with the door locks if they're not wired correctly. It's like a domino effect, one thing messes up and everything else falls apart.
