Modus climate control failure

I'm pulling my hair out! My 2007 Renault Modus, gasoline engine, is giving me grief. The climate control panel is completely dead. I've got an error code stored, the heating barely works, and the AC refuses to kick in at all. I'm suspecting a dodgy wiring harness or plug, as if it's lost its power supply somehow. Before I start ripping the dash apart, has anyone else had this happen?

Sounds familiar! I had something similar happen with my Renault Scenic. The climate control went haywire. I'd check all the fuses first. Then, like you suggested, focus on the wiring harness and plugs connected to the climate control unit. Have you checked the blower motor resistor?

Thanks for the tip! The fuses are all good, so it looks like I'm on the right track with the wiring. When you say 'similar,' was it exactly the same symptoms - completely dead panel, no AC, weak heat? Where exactly should I be wiggling wires to find the culprit?

Yep, completely dead. It was like someone had cut the power. Honestly, tracing wiring issues can be a nightmare; it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I'd advise getting it checked by a professional workshop. They have the tools and expertise to diagnose electronic faults quickly.

Thanks! I appreciate the advice. I ended up taking it to a workshop; as you predicted, the mechanic found a defective wiring harness connection. Repair cost me 95€. Now the Modus is cool again!
