Modus Damping Adjustment Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Renault Modus with a gasoline engine is experiencing a damping adjustment fault, indicated by a warning light and a bumpy ride. The suspected cause is a bad cable or plug connection. A similar issue was resolved by fixing a defective connection, suggesting that checking and repairing connections to the shock absorbers or suspension control unit might solve the problem. It is advised to have a professional handle the repair to avoid further damage.

Thank you for the insight. It feels like it's affecting both sides, though perhaps slightly more pronounced on the front. When you had this issue, did the error code point specifically to a damper problem, or was it more generic?

The error code was pretty vague, something about the suspension control unit being out of range. It could be just a bad connection, but it's best to let someone with the right tools take a look. Otherwise you might damage something. In my case it was the connection that needed fixing, but I wouldn't recommend trying it yourself. If you aren't an expert then just leave it to the workshop.

I appreciate the advice. I took it to the workshop. The issue was indeed a defective connection, as suspected. The repair cost was 95€. Thank you again for your help.

Sounds familiar! I had something similar with my Modus. It felt like I was riding a bucking bronco! Is it only on one side, or all over? Check the connections to the shock absorbers, but be careful; fiddling with the suspension can be tricky. Could be the computer module as well, but let's hope it's just a loose wire.
