Modus DPF Issues

I'm stumped. My 2012 Renault Modus, diesel engine, feels like I'm driving through molasses – seriously reduced engine power. When I accelerate, especially uphill, it puffs out smoke! I think it's the diesel particulate filter. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Any ideas?

Sounds familiar. I've got a Renault Modus, and I had similar issues. Reduced power and smoke could point to the DPF. Has the engine light come on? If it's the DPF, it could be clogged. Have you tried a longer drive, like on the highway, to see if it triggers a regeneration?

Yeah, the engine light is on. I've tried the longer drive thing, hoping it would regenerate, but no luck. Still sluggish and smoky. How did you figure out what was wrong with yours? And what did it cost to fix?

Okay, engine light plus your symptoms... sounds like the DPF. I went through the same steps – long drives, hoping for regeneration. In the end, I had to take it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the DPF and it wasn't cheap. Best to get a proper vehicle inspection. They can tell you for sure if it’s the DPF or something else.

I appreciate the insight! Looks like I'll be taking it to a shop. Just got a quote for 1550€… ouch! Hopefully, that'll solve it and get my Modus back on the road.
