Modus electronic parking brake failure

Help! My 2011 Renault Modus (diesel engine) is throwing a fit! The electronic parking brake is completely dead, the dashboard is lit up with warning lights, and the error memory is full. I'm guessing it's the electric motor in the brake calliper, but has anyone else seen this?

Ugh, electronic parking brakes! I had something similar happen on my Modus. Are you sure it's the motor and not something simpler, like the brake switch? Have you done any brake diagnostics at all before assuming the worst? It is dangerous, considering it is a vehicle safety issue. Electronic brakes are so unreliable!

Thanks for the reply! I haven't checked the brake switch, to be honest. Where is it located, and is it easy to test? Any tips before I start tearing things apart?

The switch is near the handbrake lever itself, usually under the console. I didn't try testing it myself. Considering the symptoms, especially the error codes and the complete lack of function, it does sound like the motor in the calliper is the more likely culprit. In the end, I went to the workshop; they knew what to do.

Okay, thanks for the info! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I think I'll bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. I got a quote for around 505€, so hopefully, that's all it will cost.
