The sound quality was always fine, and the Bluetooth connects without any issue, but I noticed a sudden drop in microphone sensitivity. I had to shout to be heard, and now nothing. The volume control does not respond anymore during calls. Could it be the infotainment unit then?

Yeah, it definitely sounds like a faulty infotainment system. In my case, it was cheaper to get an aftermarket head unit installed than trying to repair the original. But I guess in your case, you should visit the workshop to diagnose the problem. I would guess that they will end up replacing it as well.

Thanks for the insight! I took it to the garage. Turns out the infotainment system was indeed defective. The microphone repair was not possible, so I had to replace the whole unit. Cost me 815€ in the end. Ouch!

Oh man, that sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra. The Bluetooth connection would drop constantly, and the microphone quality was terrible. People on the other end couldn't hear me properly. Is your sound quality generally poor, or is it just the microphone?
