Modus high fuel consumption and stalling

Hi. I have a 2012 Renault Modus with a gasoline engine. Lately, I've noticed higher fuel consumption, the engine sometimes stalls at idle, and the check engine light is on. Also, there's some smoke when accelerating. Could this be a defective LMM?

Hey, I had similar issues with my Modus. Check engine light, poor fuel economy, and occasional stalling. Sounds like it could be your MAF sensor. Have you scanned for error codes?

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't scanned for codes yet. Where is the MAF sensor located, and is it difficult to replace?

It's usually located in the air intake system, close to the air filter box. While you could try replacing it yourself, given the other symptoms, I'd advise a workshop visit. Might save you some headaches in the long run.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to the shop, and you were right – MAF sensor was the culprit. Repair cost was 365€. Runs much better now.
