Modus NOx Catalyst Aging Exhaust Leak
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Renault Modus is experiencing a check engine light due to NOx storage catalyst aging and an exhaust leak. The likely cause is identified as a leak in the exhaust system. A suggested solution is to inspect the exhaust manifold gasket, as a similar issue was resolved by replacing it. A smoke test at a workshop is recommended for accurate diagnosis and repair.

Thanks for the tip. Was the leak obvious, or did you need special equipment to detect it?

It wasn't super obvious at first, but a bit of careful listening around the manifold when the engine was cold revealed it. Still, I'd recommend getting it properly smoke-tested at a workshop to be sure. Ended up costing me 265€ to repair.

Much appreciated. I'll check the manifold gasket and then take it to a workshop for proper diagnosis. Thanks for the help!

Whoa, sounds familiar! I've got a Modus too, and had similar NOx issues. Did you check the exhaust manifold gasket? That was the culprit for me.
