Modus power windows failure

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with my 2008 Renault Modus diesel. The power windows suddenly stopped working. When I try to use the window controls, nothing happens. I checked and there's an error stored in the error memory related to the window regulator. I recently replaced the car battery; could this have caused the issue?

Interesting! I also drive a Modus and I had something similar happen after some electrical work. Have you tried re-initializing the window regulators? Sometimes, after a power loss, they need to be reset. Did you check the fuses related to the car window and window motor?

Re-initializing the regulators? I'm not familiar with that. Is there a specific procedure for it? I tried checking the fuses, but they all seem to be fine. Is there a specific fuse I should be looking for?

Yes, the car window regulators require initialization. It appears that you need special diagnostic software to carry out the procedure, which is beyond my capabilities. I ended up going to a local workshop to get it sorted. They told me that sometimes after battery replacement, the system loses its settings. I would recommend you do the same.

Thanks for the advice! It seems like a trip to the workshop is unavoidable. I went there today and indeed the regulators needed to be re-initialized. The final repair cost was 290€. Hopefully this will fix the problem for good.
