Mokka ABS Fault Lateral Acceleration Sensor
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Vauxhall Mokka diesel is experiencing an ABS fault, with the ABS lamp constantly illuminated and an error pointing to the lateral acceleration sensor. The issue may be related to a defective control unit, as suggested by diagnostic scans. A similar problem in another vehicle was compounded by wheel alignment issues, but ultimately required replacing the defective sensor. The owner is considering a costly repair to replace the control unit, which is known to be prone to failure.

Wheel alignment, eh? That's a new one. I was so sure it's the electronic control. Why would misaligned wheels trigger a lateral acceleration sensor fault? I mean, doesn't it monitor the rotation?

Yep, same thing on mine. Wheel alignment wasn't the primary cause, just compounding the issue. The sensor was still defective. Just bit the bullet and sent it to the shop. Best of luck.

Well, there you go! It seems my fears were confirmed. Thanks for sharing your experience; it's helped steel my resolve. Looks like I'm staring down the barrel of a 1000€ repair bill to replace the control unit. Apparently, these units are prone to failure. What a joy!

Sounds familiar. Had similar issues with a completely different make (Citroen). Same symptoms but no ABS lamp: ABS failure and error codes all pointing to the lateral sensor. Did you check wheel alignment?
