Cheers for the reply. No visible damage to the sensor itself. The error code doesn't specify intake or exhaust, just 'camshaft sensor defective'. What did you end up doing to fix yours?

Given the vague error code and your symptoms, it does sound like a sensor malfunction or wiring issue. In my case, it was indeed the sensor. However, without proper diagnostics, it's hard to pinpoint the exact cause. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. They can check the sensor signal and wiring harness.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to the workshop, and you were right. They replaced the camshaft sensor and cleaned the connections. Cost me 95€ but the car runs smoothly now. Appreciate the help!

I had similar symptoms with my Mokka. Rough idling and occasional stalling engine. Have you checked the sensor itself for any physical damage? Sometimes these automotive sensors just fail outright. Also, did the error code specify which camshaft sensor, intake or exhaust?
