Mokka Crankshaft Camshaft Error

My 2018 Vauxhall Mokka, gasoline engine, is throwing a 'Crankshaft to Camshaft Reference Value' error. Check engine light's on, power's way down, throttle response is a joke, and it's guzzling fuel. It has 191122 km. Is this a cam sensor thing or worse, like a timing belt/chain jumping teeth?

That sounds rough! My old Peugeot 308, diesel, did something similar last year. Limp mode kicked in, felt like I was towing a boat anchor, and the fuel bill went through the roof! The mechanic kept saying it was 'engine synchronization' issue. Was a nightmare to diagnose!

Synchronization issue, eh? What did it end up being on your Peugeot? Was it the cam sensor, crank sensor, or something else completely bonkers? I'm trying to figure out if I can even fix this myself or if it's workshop time...

Yeah, synchronization – fancy way of saying the engine didn't know where things were. Long story short, it ended up being a defective crankshaft sensor. I'd get it checked out properly. The symptoms are all there. I messed around with it for ages, but in hindsight that was a waste of time. Better get it to someone who knows what they're doing!

Crankshaft sensor it is! Took it to the shop, and you were spot on. New sensor fitted; cost me 340€, but the Mokka's back to its old self. Appreciate the help!
