Mokka generator fault

Hi, my 2020 Vauxhall Mokka diesel is playing up. Mileage is at 236108 km. I'm getting reduced engine power, a warning light, and it's struggling to start. The lights are flickering too. Error memory shows a generator fault. I'm guessing the generator is defective, what do you think?

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my Mokka. Did you notice any issues with the serpentine belt recently? A failing alternator can cause all those symptoms: low battery, poor starting, flickering lights, and ultimately reduced power. Might be worth checking the charging system voltage before jumping to conclusions, but it does sound like alternator replacement might be in your future.

Thanks! I didn't notice anything unusual with the serpentine belt. How did you finally confirm it was the alternator?

For me, the definitive sign was the consistent error code related to the charging system. Although the serpentine belt looked fine initially, after a closer inspection there were micro-cracks which led to the alternator not spinning properly. Given the symptoms and error code you're seeing, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. They can test the alternator output and confirm if that's indeed the culprit causing your battery low.

Appreciate the advice! Took your advice and went to the shop. Turns out the generator was indeed defective. Repair cost me 960€.
