Mokka generator fault
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Vauxhall Mokka diesel is experiencing reduced engine power, a warning light, starting difficulties, and flickering lights, with an error indicating a generator fault. The core problem is suspected to be a defective generator, likely the alternator. Suggested solutions include checking the charging system voltage and inspecting the serpentine belt for issues. Ultimately, a workshop diagnosis confirmed the generator's defectiveness, leading to its replacement.

Thanks! I didn't notice anything unusual with the serpentine belt. How did you finally confirm it was the alternator?

For me, the definitive sign was the consistent error code related to the charging system. Although the serpentine belt looked fine initially, after a closer inspection there were micro-cracks which led to the alternator not spinning properly. Given the symptoms and error code you're seeing, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. They can test the alternator output and confirm if that's indeed the culprit causing your battery low.

Appreciate the advice! Took your advice and went to the shop. Turns out the generator was indeed defective. Repair cost me 960€.

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my Mokka. Did you notice any issues with the serpentine belt recently? A failing alternator can cause all those symptoms: low battery, poor starting, flickering lights, and ultimately reduced power. Might be worth checking the charging system voltage before jumping to conclusions, but it does sound like alternator replacement might be in your future.
