Mokka NOx Sensor Fault

My 2013 Vauxhall Mokka, gasoline engine, with 203065 km is showing signs of a faulty NOx sensor. The check engine light is on, and diagnostic tools confirm an error code related to nitrogen oxide emissions. I've also detected a faint exhaust leak. Could a defective cable or plug connection be the problem, or is it something more complex with the pollution control system?

I had a similar issue with my Mokka, although I have a diesel engine. The symptoms you describe – check engine light, error code, and even the slight exhaust smell – mirror my experience. Have you inspected the sensor's wiring harness for any visible damage or corrosion? That was the first thing I checked.

Thanks for your insight. I did a quick visual inspection of the wiring harness, but maybe not thoroughly enough. Where should I focus my attention for potential cable or plug connection defects?

In my case, the damage was near the plug that connects directly to the NOx sensor. Look for any frayed wires, cracks in the insulation, or corrosion on the connector pins. Honestly, even if you find something minor, it might be worth having a professional take a look. I ended up going to a workshop to get it fixed.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It seems prudent to seek professional diagnostics given the potential for hidden damage. The estimated repair cost of 95€ seems reasonable. Thanks again for your help!
