Mokka oil sensor fault

I've got a 2020 Vauxhall Mokka, diesel engine, with about 91k km on the clock. Recently, I've been getting an annoying error message on the speedometer, and the oil pressure warning lamp keeps lighting up. Plugged it into a code reader and it's showing a 'oil level sensor/oil level sensor signal faulty' error. I've checked the oil level manually, and it's fine. I'm suspecting a dodgy sensor, maybe a bad connection somewhere? Has anyone else run into this?

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Vauxhall Mokka owner reported an oil pressure warning and an error message indicating a faulty oil level sensor. Despite the oil level being fine, the issue persisted, suggesting a possible sensor or connection problem. Advice was given to check the wiring and connector for loose connections or corrosion. The problem was confirmed to be a faulty connection on the oil level sensor, which was resolved at a workshop.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had a similar issue with my Mokka. Didn't have the exact same symptoms, but it was definitely the oil sensor playing up. These sensors can be a real pain. First thing to check is the wiring to the sensor itself. Give the connector a wiggle and see if that changes anything. It's often just a loose or corroded connection causing the problem. By the way, are there any other error messages?

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check the wiring. When you say 'wiring', do you mean the connector itself or the wires leading into it? Is there a specific way to check for corrosion?

I meant the connector and the wires going into it. Corrosion can be tricky to spot, but look for any green or white powdery stuff on the metal parts of the connector. If you see any of that, it's corrosion. Also, check the wires themselves for any breaks or damage. Honestly, if you're not comfortable messing with the wiring, it might be worth taking it to a workshop to have them check it out. They have the tools to diagnose the problem properly.

Cheers for the advice! Took it to the shop like you said. Turns out it was exactly as we suspected – a dodgy connection on the oil level sensor. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted. Appreciate the help!
