Mokka radiator fan defective

My 2018 Vauxhall Mokka with a diesel engine is playing up. The radiator fan seems defective, the engine's overheating, and the check engine light is on. Mileage is 201442 km. I've checked the fan blades and they seem fine, not blocked. Any ideas?

The fan blades appear unblocked, but a whirring noise was noted prior to the malfunction. The problem was identified as a defective speed sensor, which was confirmed and resolved by a mechanic.

I had something similar with my Mokka. Did you happen to notice if the fan was making any weird noises before it went completely kaput? My car was overheating just like you described. I was worried about the cooling system and causing even more damage.

Weird noises? Now that you mention it, there was a sort of whirring sound coming from the front end for a while before all this started. Did yours do that too? Were you able to troubleshoot it?

Yes, a whirring sound too! The underlying cause of my problems was a defective speed sensor. You may need to visit your local mechanic.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to the workshop this morning, and you were spot on – defective speed sensor. Repair cost me 250€, but at least it's sorted. Cheers for the help!
