Mokka Seat Heater Dead: Common Causes & Repair Costs

Hey everyone, my 2013 Vauxhall Mokka diesel has an issue with the seat heating, it's completely stopped working. Has anyone dealt with this problem before? I'd like to know what was the actual cause and how much it cost to fix at the workshop. Any tips or experiences would be really helpful. Thanks in advance

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2011 Vauxhall Astra diesel (I have some experience with cars). The seat heating completely died on me last winter, super annoying! Took it to my regular workshop, and they diagnosed a faulty heating mat in the driver's seat. The whole repair, including parts and labor, cost me around 390€. Which seat is giving you trouble in your Mokka? Driver's or passenger's? Also, does it make any noise when you try to turn it on, or is it just completely dead? This info would help me share more relevant details from my experience.

Hey Mike, Thanks for sharing your experience! In my case, it's the driver's seat that's acting up. When I press the button, there's absolutely no response, no noise, no warmth, nothing. Mine's at 56379 KM and had its last service about two months ago. Had no issues before that. Your repair cost info is really helpful, although I was hoping it wouldn't be that expensive! Did your mechanic mention if there were any warning signs before it completely failed? Just wondering if I missed something obvious. Cheers!

Hey again! Yeah, those heating mats can be really sneaky! In my Astra, looking back, I actually did notice some warning signs but didn't think much of it at the time, the heating was getting a bit patchy about a month before it completely died. Like, sometimes one part of the seat would heat up while another stayed cold. But yours sounds exactly like mine when it finally gave up, totally dead, no signs of life at all. Since your Mokka had a service recently, maybe check if anything could've been knocked loose during the work? My mechanic mentioned that sometimes the wiring connections under the seat can get disturbed during servicing. Though honestly, given what you're describing, it's probably the heating mat itself, just like mine was. Quick tip: I found out the hard way that it's worth fixing sooner rather than later, waiting just meant more chilly mornings for me! And yeah, the price isn't great, but at least most workshops can get it done in a day. My Astra's been working perfectly since the repair, so there's that! Let me know how you get on with it! Cheers, Mike

Hey Mike, Really appreciate all the detailed info! No, I didn't notice any patchy heating before it died, it just went from working fine to completely dead. But it's good to know what signs to watch for in the future. I'll definitely get it checked out soon, you're right about those chilly mornings! I've actually booked it in at my local garage for next Tuesday. I'll make sure to mention about checking those wiring connections from the service, though as you said, it's probably the heating mat. Thanks again for all your help! Really useful to hear from someone who's been through the same thing. Cheers!
