Mokka Undervoltage Error

My 2013 Vauxhall Mokka diesel is throwing an 'undervoltage detected' error. The car starts poorly, sometimes systems glitch, lights flicker, and the engine cranks weakly. I'm guessing it's the battery, but could a dodgy alternator also cause this? Anyone seen this before?

I had a similar problem with my Mokka. Have you checked the battery terminals for corrosion or a loose connection? A bad connection can cause a voltage drop. Also, what's the battery voltage reading when the engine is off? And when it's running?

Good shout on the terminals, I'll check them tomorrow! Whereabouts is the voltage regulator located? Also, what voltage readings were you getting when you had this issue?

While cleaning the terminals is a good first step, it's unlikely to be the root cause if the battery is heavily discharged. As for the voltage regulator location, it varies, but is generally incorporated into the alternator. I would recommend professional diagnostic assessment to confirm the source of the voltage drop. This issue resulted in a complete failure of the power supply. You may consider visiting a certified workshop.

Took it to the shop, and you were spot on. Turns out the battery was knackered. New battery fitted, cost me 290€, and all seems good now. Appreciate the help!
