Mondeo Cold Start Problems

My 2009 Ford Mondeo with a gasoline engine has cold start problems at 218948 km. It runs poorly during the initial cold start, with rough idling and a lack of responsiveness. Starting is challenging, often requiring multiple attempts. I suspect a faulty cold start injector. Could a defective injector be the main problem? What diagnostic steps should I take to check each injector, beyond a visual inspection?

Hey, I had a similar issue with my old Opel Corsa, but it was the warm start that gave me grief. Engine misfired like crazy. Have you checked the fuel delivery system? Maybe the fuel filter is clogged?

When you experienced the misfires, did you perform any specific tests to isolate the cause? Did you use any specialized diagnostic tools, such as a fuel pressure tester or an oscilloscope, to evaluate the performance of the injectors? What did you do to find the bad injector?

Nah, I'm not that technical, haha. I just took it to a workshop. They ran some tests and told me one of the injectors was kaput.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It seems a visit to the workshop is indeed warranted. The repair turned out to be a faulty injector. After replacement, including labor, the total cost was 515€. I hope this information will be helpful for other Ford Mondeo owners experiencing similar issues.
