Mondeo cruise control failure

Cruise control stopped working on my 2002 Ford Mondeo (gasoline engine) with 74,650 km. An error message pops up, and the cruise control doesn't engage. I checked the error memory, and there's a stored fault. Any ideas? I'm thinking it might be a defective cable or plug connection.

I had a similar issue with my Mondeo. Check the wiring around the steering wheel and also the throttle body actuator. A faulty connection there can cause cruise control to fail. Could be something simple.

Yes, check the plug and the wiring going into it. But if you're not comfortable probing too deep, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. These electrical gremlins can be tricky. Might save you some time and headache.

Thanks, appreciate the advice. Took it to the shop as you suggested. Turns out it was a corroded connector on the throttle body. Repair cost was 95€. Sorted now!
