Thanks for the reply. Which dashboard light are you referring to? And was your problem definitely the speed sensor, or could it be the throttle position or pedal switch?

Yes, definitely the speed sensor. The dashboard light for the cruise control system was blinking. If it's the same for you, I'd recommend visiting a workshop to get it checked properly.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I took it to a workshop as suggested. It turned out to be a defective cable connection, as suspected. Repair cost was 95€. Cruise control is now working again.

I had a similar issue with my Mondeo! Did the dashboard light come on? Have you checked the speed sensor? Could be a blown fuse, although that's just a guess.
