Mondeo Engine Misfire

My 2003 Ford Mondeo diesel is giving me headaches. The check engine light is on, the engine runs rough, stalls at idle, and jerks when accelerating. I'm pretty sure it's the fuel pressure sensor – but what could cause it? Maybe a faulty fuel injector or fuel pump? Fuel delivery seems off.

Sounds frustrating. I had similar issues with my old Opel Astra, though it was a petrol engine. Check engine light, rough running... turned out to be a dodgy connection to one of the sensors. Could be a simple fix.

Interesting. What sensor was it on your Astra? And what kind of 'dodgy connection' are we talking about – loose, corroded, broken cable?

I honestly can't remember which sensor it was, but the mechanic said the plug was a bit loose and the cable was frayed. He just cleaned it up and secured the connection. If I were you, I would get it to the workshop to avoid further damage to the engine.

Thanks for the tip! You were spot on – it was a defective cable/plug connection on the fuel pressure sensor! Cost me 95€ to fix. No more engine misfire!
