Mondeo Glow Plug Issue

Hi, I have a 2012 Ford Mondeo diesel. Recently, the preheating lamp on the dashboard doesn't switch off. I scanned it and got an error related to the glow plugs. Sounds like a defective glow plug. Has anyone experienced something similar?

I had something similar happen on my Mondeo. A glow plug is basically a small heater that helps the engine start, especially in cold weather. When they fail, the engine can be harder to start, and you might see a check engine light. Did you notice any rough idling or difficulty starting the car, especially when it's cold?

Yes, the engine does seem to idle a bit rougher than usual, especially on cold starts. The starting itself is also a bit delayed. Is it possible to check the glow plugs myself, or is it better to leave it to a professional?

Given the symptoms you're describing, it really does sound like a faulty glow plug. You could try checking them yourself with a multimeter to see if they have continuity, but it can be tricky to reach them, depending on their location. The error code confirms it as well. I went straight to a workshop when mine failed. Made things much easier.

Thanks for the advice! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll probably take it to a workshop to get it sorted. They quoted me around 440€ for the replacement and labor. Seems like a fair price considering the work involved.
