Mondeo Hybrid Transmission Issue

Guys, I'm freaking out! My 2021 Ford Mondeo Hybrid is acting up with only 47930 km. The transmission indicator and check engine lights are on. Feels stuck in emergency mode. Shifts are rough, slipping, and making this awful grinding noise! I checked the error memory, and it says something about radiator oil pressure defective. Could a faulty cable or plug really cause all this?

Good day. Based on the symptoms and the error code, a defective cable or plug connection related to the radiator oil pressure sensor is highly probable. The transmission relies on accurate temperature readings for optimal operation. A faulty sensor can trigger emergency mode, the indicator lights, and the shift abnormalities. Is the cooling fan running constantly, even when the engine is cold? Have you observed any coolant leaks or a drop in coolant level?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't noticed the fan running constantly, and the coolant level seems okay. But where exactly is this oil pressure sensor located? Is it something I could check myself before taking it in?

Given your vehicle's hybrid system and the potential for high-voltage components, I would strongly advise against attempting a self-diagnosis or repair, even for checking the sensor's location. The risk of electrical shock or further damage is significant. The sensor's location will vary depending on the specific Mondeo hybrid configuration, and accessing it may require specialized tools and knowledge. A qualified technician can accurately diagnose the issue and safely repair or replace any faulty wiring or the sensor itself.

You're absolutely right. Best not to mess with it myself. Took it to the workshop, and you nailed it! Turned out to be a corroded connector on the sensor. New connector and labor came to 95€. Thanks for steering me in the right direction!
