Mondeo Jerky Acceleration

Hi, I've got a 2015 Ford Mondeo diesel, and I'm having some trouble. It's done 151681 km. Recently, it's started jerking when accelerating, the check engine light is on, and the engine seems to stall at idle sometimes. I also noticed reduced engine power and rough running, plus a strong exhaust smell. I scanned it and there's an error stored. Could a gasket leak or a faulty manifold sensor cause this? I'm thinking it might be related to manifold pressure or a vacuum leak in the car manifold.

Whoa, that sounds rough! I had something similar happen in my Mondeo. Jerky acceleration and the check engine light were the first signs. I'd also get a whiff of exhaust that wasn't normal. Have you checked for any obvious signs of scorching around the intake manifold? That's where my problem was. Was the error code pointing to anything specific?

Scorching, huh? I haven't specifically looked for that. Where exactly on the intake manifold should I be checking? And yeah, the error code mentioned something about the intake manifold. Do you remember what fixed it for you?

Okay, if the code mentions the intake manifold, it's highly likely the culprit. For the scorching, check around where the manifold connects to the engine block – that's where mine was leaking. Honestly, I tried a few things, but in the end, I just took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the intake manifold leaking, probably due to heat, and replaced it. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a professional.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. It was a defective intake manifold, leaking due to scorching. They replaced it, and it cost me 1180€, but it's running smoothly now.
