Mondeo preheating lamp and check engine light
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Mondeo diesel exhibited issues with the preheating lamp staying on, the check engine light, and smoke during acceleration. The initial suspicion was a faulty glow control unit or a bad cable or plug. A diagnostic test confirmed an electrical fault in the glow control unit circuit. After replacing the defective unit, the symptoms were resolved.

Yes, the diagnostic test indicated a fault code related to the glow control unit, an electrical fault in the circuit. Did you also experience the engine light and smoke? Was it indeed a problem with the control unit, or something else?

Yes, I had the engine light and smoke as well. It turned out to be the glow control unit, as suspected. I would suggest bringing it to a workshop to confirm the diagnosis.

I had the vehicle inspected at a workshop. The diagnostic test confirmed that the glow control unit was defective, likely due to a faulty connection as I suspected. The repair, including the replacement of the unit, amounted to 95€. The symptoms have now disappeared. Your input was greatly appreciated.

I had similar issues on my Mondeo. Was the diagnostic test indicating a problem with the glow plugs?
