Thanks for the info! Steering angle sensor... never heard of that. Is it difficult to fix? Can I check it myself, or do I need special tools?

The steering angle sensor is usually located near the steering column. It's not something you can easily diagnose or fix without the right equipment. In my case, the sensor coding was faulty. The car's computer wasn't getting the right information from the sensor. I ended up taking it to a workshop, and they had to recode the sensor. I'd recommend taking yours in as well; it's better to have a professional look at it, especially since it affects the steering.

Thanks so much for the advice! I took it to a local mechanic, and you were spot on – it was the steering angle sensor. They replaced it and recoded the new one. Cost me about 195€, but the steering is back to normal now. Really appreciate the help!

I also have a Mondeo, though not the hybrid. Your issue sounds a lot like what happened to me a while back. The vibrating steering wheel and the increased effort could be related to the steering angle sensor. It's part of the electronic stability program (ESP). When the angle sensor isn't working correctly, it can mess with the power steering and cause those vibrations.
