Monza Check Engine Light and Exhaust Smell
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Chevrolet Monza was experiencing a check engine light, rough engine performance, a gasoline smell, and an exhaust leak. Initially suspected issues included DEF fluid or the particulate filter. However, it was suggested to check the lambda (oxygen) sensor, which was identified as the problem. After replacing the faulty sensor, the car's performance improved, and the exhaust smell was resolved.

Lambda sensor, huh? Interesting. Where exactly is that located on the Monza, and is it a pain to get to? Wonder if that's causing all this chaos. How did you figure it out on your Audi?

Finding it was the easy part because I had it checked in the workshop. Better get yours to one too, so they can tell you exactly what the issue is. Cost me a pretty penny back then, but at least the car runs like new again, although it was not a Chevrolet.

Thanks for the tip! Took it to my mechanic, and you nailed it – lambda sensor was toast. 375€ later, it's fixed! The car runs smoothly and the exhaust smell is gone. Seems like a small price to pay considering the headache it was causing.

Sounds rough. I had a similar issue with my old Audi A4, different engine but also showed the engine light and exhaust smell. Did you check the lambda sensor (oxygen sensor)? That was the culprit in my case. Could be worth a look before you start tearing everything apart.
