Monza outside temperature sensor issues

I've got a 2021 Chevrolet Monza with a gasoline engine. I'm having some trouble with what I think is the outside temperature sensor. The error memory has a fault stored, the AC won't kick on, the spray nozzles are freezing up even when it's not that cold, and the mirror heating isn't working. I'm guessing it's a bad connection somewhere, but any ideas before I start tearing things apart?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Chevrolet Monza owner is experiencing issues with the outside temperature sensor, leading to problems with the AC, spray nozzles, and mirror heating. The suspected cause is a bad connection. Another Monza owner suggests checking the sensor calibration but ultimately advises that the issue is likely a faulty connection, recommending professional diagnostics. The problem is confirmed to be a defective plug, which was repaired at a workshop.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, I have a Monza too, and that sounds REALLY familiar. I had similar issues a while back – AC refusing to work on slightly chilly days, and the mirror heating acting up randomly. Did you check the sensor calibration? I know it sounds basic, but it's worth a shot before you go digging for a broken wire. It's like when your phone's GPS thinks you're halfway across town.

Sensor calibration, huh? Where exactly do I find that setting in the car's system? I'm not super tech-savvy, so ELI5 if you can.

Okay, so, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but in my case, fiddling with the calibration didn't solve anything. It just masked the problem temporarily. The real issue turned out to be exactly what you suspected: a dodgy connection. Honestly, unless you're really comfortable with automotive electrical work, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. The diagnostics alone can save you a ton of time and frustration. Think of it like trying to fix a leaky faucet without knowing which wrench to use – you might just make things worse!

Thanks for the advice! Sounds like I'll be heading to a workshop. I appreciate the help in confirming my suspicion. Turns out it was a defective plug, as you suspected. Repair cost me 95€.
