Movano Air Suspension Failure

My 2008 Renault Movano (diesel) is giving me fits. Only done 49123 km. The air suspension seems completely shot. The whole van is sagging, especially on one side, and the onboard computer is throwing error messages like crazy. The headlights are all messed up too, shining way too low. I've checked the obvious stuff – fuses seem okay. The error memory says it's the air suspension compressor. Could it be a loose wire or a dodgy plug? Anyone else had this?

I had a similar issue with my Movano’s air suspension. The symptoms sound exactly like what I experienced. Air suspensions use an air compressor to inflate air struts, which are essentially heavy-duty airbags that act like springs. These systems also often have load-leveling functionality, meaning that sensors tell the air suspension system how much to inflate or deflate those struts to keep your ride level. How confident are you in your troubleshooting skills? Have you checked for any obvious air leaks in the lines or struts themselves?

Good shout! I've not had a chance to poke around too much. Where exactly should I be looking for these air leaks? Is there a common spot where these Movanos tend to fail? And what about this 'air strut' thing – where is that located? Trying to get my head around where the system lives on the van before diving in!

Okay, so the air struts are usually located near the wheels, replacing the traditional coil springs. As for common leak points, check the connections to the compressor itself, and where the air lines connect to the struts. Given the error message points directly to the compressor, and you're describing full system failure, I would say that it's very possible that the whole unit gave out. In light of what you've already shared, I would bring it into a garage. Faulty wiring is difficult to diagnose, and specialized tools may be required to assess the system’s status.

Thanks for the info. Took your advice and went to a local garage. Turns out it was just a defective plug connection on the compressor! They charged me 95€ to fix it. Sorted now! Cheers!
