Movano Engine Stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Renault Movano with a diesel engine is experiencing intermittent stalling at idle and an illuminated check engine light. The suspected cause is a malfunctioning tank ventilation valve and potentially clogged hoses. After visual inspection, the hoses appeared degraded, suggesting possible blockage. The solution involved replacing the faulty tank ventilation valve and clogged hoses, which resolved the issue and cleared the engine code.

Interesting. Refueling isn't particularly difficult, no fuel spitting back or anything obvious. I'll double-check the refueling behavior. If the hoses are indeed clogged, would replacing them solve the issue, or is there more to the EVAP system I should consider?

Replacing the hoses might help, especially if they're visibly degraded, it is worth trying as a first step. But blockage could be elsewhere in the system too. Based on my experience, you would need to check for leakages. Seeing that the ventilation valve is faulty, you might need to get it checked at the workshop to properly diagnose. Keep me posted.

Thanks for the input. Ended up taking it to a workshop, as suggested. Faulty tank ventilation valve and, as suspected, the hoses were clogged. New valve and hoses, cleared the code. Total cost was 175€, runs like a charm now.

I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot 307. Check engine light, rough idle, the works. Turned out to be a blocked EVAP system. Does your Movano have any trouble with refueling? That was another symptom I had.
