Movano immobilizer issue

Having a mare with my 2021 Renault Movano diesel. Keeps throwing a wobbly on startup. Sometimes it cranks but won't fire, other times it starts for a split second and then dies. The error memory says immobilizer problem. I'm thinking dodgy key programming maybe? Anyone else seen this before?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Movano. Was the immobilizer light flashing or anything like that? Did you try the spare key, or maybe even check the battery voltage? Sometimes a weak battery can cause all sorts of weird electronic gremlins. What sort of mileage are you sitting on?

Good shout about the spare key, hadn't thought of that! Will give it a whirl tomorrow. No flashing immobilizer light, just the engine cutting out. Battery seems healthy enough, but I'll check the voltage to be sure. I'm on 66453 km. Did you ever get to the bottom of your issue?

Yeah, definitely sounds like the same headache I had. Tried all the usual suspects myself. In the end, I bit the bullet and took it to a workshop. They hooked it up to their diagnostic gear and reprogrammed the key. Sorted it right out. Probably worth a try before you start chasing shadows. You will need the security code of the vehicle in order to program the key. Do you have that?

Thanks for the tip! Spared me a lot of unnecessary tinkering. Took it to a local place, they confirmed it was a key programming issue. Cost me 45€ for the reprogramming and it's running smoothly again.
