Movano Transmission Issues

Thank you for your reply. I will check the error codes. The error memory does show a fault related to the transmission oil temperature sensor. You also mention checking the gearbox oil level - is it simple enough to check myself, or does it require special tools or expertise?

Right, so it does sound like the sensor is at least partly to blame. Regarding the oil level, while some people do tackle it themselves, I must admit I didn't. Is it worth risking further damage by potentially getting it wrong? In my opinion, get it checked by a professional. In the end, the garage identified low oil as the primary issue. Replacing the sensor and topping up the oil – including the diagnostic – cost me about 365€. Given the symptoms, you're better off getting a professional opinion before things escalate further.

I appreciate your detailed explanation and advice. It seems prudent to consult with a qualified mechanic. Based on your experience, I will book my Movano in for a thorough inspection and address the transmission oil temperature sensor and oil level as potential causes. Thank you for sharing your experience and the cost breakdown; this gives me a clearer understanding of what to expect. I will let you know what happens.

Interesting. I also drive a Movano. Your description is very similar to a problem I encountered some time ago. Does the error memory store any specific codes related to transmission oil temperature? In my case, the warning lights, emergency mode, and even the rough shifting were all triggered by the transmission oil temperature sensor acting up. It's worth checking if your gearbox oil level is sufficient, too. Have you checked it?
